Spectrum Analyzer Mode
R&S Cable Rider ZPH option
R&S ZPH-K1 (order number 1334.5604.02) option is required to operate the R&S
Cable Rider ZPH in the spectrum analyzer mode.
This mode is only available with model .12.
Equipped with R&S ZPH-K1, the R&S Cable Rider ZPH provides you the capacity to
perform spectrum measurement. This measurement mode provides the functionality to
perform measurements in the frequency domain, e.g. to identify the power of signals.
1. Press the [MODE] key.
2. Select the "Spectrum Analyzer" softkey.
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH opens a submenu to select the measurement mode.
3. Select the "Spectrum" menu item.

8.1
Performing Spectrum Measurements
In addition to basic spectrum measurements, the R&S Cable Rider ZPH provides sev-
eral specific measurements. These measurements, also in combination with one of the
available accessories, allow you to perform advanced and more complex measure-
ment tasks.
8.1.1
Measuring Basic Signal Characteristics
Basic spectrum measurements determine the spectrum of a signal in the frequency
domain or keep track of a signal in the time domain. They provide a basic overview of
the input signal characteristics.
Frequency domain
In the frequency domain, the R&S Cable Rider ZPH analyzes the input signal charac-
teristics over a particular span. You can use it, for example, to obtain basic measure-
ment results like peak levels and the shape of the spectrum.
The horizontal axis shows the frequency, the vertical axis shows the signal levels.
The measurement in the frequency domain is the default measurement mode.
