5.3.2. SENSOR POSITIONING
Check that the sensor to be used is fitted in a suitable position for the examination to be performed, otherwise relocate
it.
If the sensor is not in a suitable position for the examination to be performed, a warning will appear on the
control console onboard the machine and you will not be able to continue with the examination selected.
Normally, the sensors for the PAN and CEPH examinations can not be removed by the user.
Only if the X-ray device is equipped with the CEPH arm for tele-X-rays, but with only one sensor, the sensor needs to
be moved from the CEPH to the PAN position and vice versa according to the type of examination you want to perform.
The system recognises automatically if the sensor is attached to the correct position according to the type of
examination planned. If the sensor is not in the correct position for the examination, the system allows you to move it
to the correct position.
The sensor locking system contains both electronic parts and a mechanical lock.
During operation, the sensor is mechanically locked and cannot be removed.
Do not attempt to remove the sensor if this function is not requested and set up by the X-ray device. The sensor is a
delicate electronic part. If you try removing the sensor by forcing the holder, there is a risk of damaging both the sensor
and the locking system.
The X-ray device automatically sets up for removal or fitting when you select an examination type different from the
current one and press the CONFIRM button on the control console.
If the sensor is not enabled (because it is the wrong one or absent), an error message appears on the console display
and you cannot perform the examination.
The sensor automatically moves to the release position when necessary. The position can easily be detected by looking
if the sensor is free in the upper area (A).
On units equipped with two sensors, be particularly careful to fit each sensor on the correct holder. The two
sensors can be recognised by the height of the black band that identifies the area sensitive to X-rays (see
images).
