Engine Mechanical: 1D-16
Installation
1) Install clutch cover and clutch disk referring to
“Clutch Cover, Clutch Disc and Flywheel Removal
and Installation in Section 5C”.
2) Connect transaxle to engine referring to “Manual
Transaxle Unit Dismounting and Remounting in
Section 5B”or “Automatic Transaxle Unit
Dismounting and Remounting in Section 5A”.
3) Lift engine with transaxle into engine compartment,
but do not remove lifting device.
4) Install engine left mounting bolts (1) and engine right
mounting bracket nuts (2).
Tighten these bolts and nuts to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Engine left mounting bolt (a): 55 N·m (5.5 kgf-m,
40.0 lb-ft)
Engine right mounting bracket nut (b): 75 N·m (
7.5 kgf-m, 54.5 lb-ft)
5) Remove lifting device.
6) Install clutch operating cylinder to transaxle (For M/T
vehicle).
7) Install generator referring to “Generator Dismounting
and Remounting in Section 1J”.
8) For 4WD vehicle, install propeller shaft referring to
“Propeller Shaft Removal and Installation in Section
3D”.
9) Connect drive shaft joints referring to “Front Drive
Shaft Assembly Removal and Installation in Section
3A”.
10) Install exhaust No.1 and No.2 pipes referring to
“Exhaust Pipe Removal and Installation in Section
1K”.
11) Install suspension frame (1) with stabilizer bar and
suspension control arms referring to “Front
Suspension Frame Removal and Installation in
Section 2B”.
12) Reverse disconnected hoses, cables and electric
wires for connection.
13) Install air cleaner case and hoses referring to “Air
Cleaner Element Removal and Installation”.
14) Install A/C compressor and/or P/S pump to its
bracket (if equipped).
15) Adjust water pump belt tension referring to “Water
Pump / Generator Drive Belt Tension Inspection and
Adjustment in Section 1F”.
16) Adjust A/C compressor and/or P/S belt tension (if
equipped) referring to “Drive Belt Inspection in
Section 0B”.
17) Adjust accelerator cable play referring to
“Accelerator Cable Adjustment”.
18) Check to ensure that all removed parts are back in
place.
Reinstall any necessary parts which have not been
reinstalled.
19) Refill cooling system with coolant, engine with
engine oil and A/T with specified A/T fluid (vehicle
with A/T) referring to “Cooling System Flush and
Refill in Section 1F”.
20) Connect negative cable at battery.
21) Verify that there is no fuel leakage, coolant leakage,
oil leakage, A/T fluid leakage (vehicle with A/T) and
exhaust gas leakage at each connection.
