Rearend Door Window / Back Window Defogger
Switch and Its Circuit Inspection

NOTE
Refer to “Inspection of HVAC Control Module
and its Circuit in Section 7A” for terminal
number of HVAC control module.
1) Remove HVAC control module referring to “HVAC
Control Module Removal and Installation in Section
7A”.
2) Turn ignition switch to ON position.
3) Check that the voltage between G77-3 terminal of
HVAC control module connector and ground for 10 V
or more.
If check result is not satisfied, check rear defogger
relay and its circuit.
4) Connect HVAC control module connector to HVAC
control module with ignition switch turned OFF.
5) Measure voltage between G77-3 terminal of HVAC
control module connector and ground.
Ignition switch ON, Rear defogger switch OFF
Higher than 10 V
Ignition switch ON, Rear defogger switch ON
Less than 0.5 V
If check result is satisfied, rear defogger switch is in
good condition.
If check result is not satisfied, replace HVAC control
module assembly.
Rearend Door Window / Back Window Defogger Wire Inspection

NOTE
• When cleaning rear window glass, use a dry cloth to wipe it along heat wire (1) direction.
• When cleaning glass, do not use detergent or abrasive-containing glass cleaner.
• When measuring wire voltage, use a tester with negative probe (2) wrapped with a tin foil (3) which
should be held down on wire by finger pressure.
Wire Damage Inspection
1) Turn ignition switch to ON position.
2) Turn on defogger switch.
3) Measure voltage at each position(s) as follows.
For wagon model:
Measure voltage at the center of each defogger wire (1), and check defogger wire condition according to the
following table.
For sedan model:
Measure voltage at position “a” and position “b” of each defogger wire (1), and check defogger wire condition
according to the following table.
If defogger wire open is found, go to next step.

0 – 1 V
Defogger wire open between its center and defogger wire ground terminal end (3)
