3.7.4 Sample
Treatment
(1) Be sure to filtrate a sample which contains fine-particle
dusts.
Otherwise, the column might be clogged and deteriorated
earlier than normal.
(2) Be sure to remove inclusions from a sample.
Otherwise, data reliability may be degraded due to
appearance of abnormal peaks, etc.
(a) Example of sample filtration
As shown at left, sip a sample into a syringe and
attach a 0.45
μ
m cartridge-type membrane filter to
the syringe, followed by filtration. Dust in the
sample will be removed efficiently by this method.
NOTE
: There are various sample filtration
methods.
Select a method suitable for the
volume of your sample.

(b) Example of inclusion removal from sample
In analysis with a reversed-phase column (such
as ODS column), for example, take a sample into
a syringe and filtrate it with a normal-phase
cartridge attached as shown at left. By this
method, inclusions can be removed.
NOTE
: There are various methods of
removing inclusions from a sample.
Select the optimum removal method
according to your analytical purpose.
