Information in this Display
ICMP Errors
is the number of ICMP packets generated by this node.
Pkt Too Short
is the number of datagrams received with a length shorter than that
specified in the header, or shorter than the ICMP minimum length.
Old Too Short
is the number of old version ICMP datagrams that were too short.
Bad Checksums
is the number of ICMP messages received with a bad checksum.
Old ICMP
is the number of old version ICMP datagrams received.
Bad Pkt Length
is the number of ICMP datagrams received with a length too short
for the given ICMP message type.
Bad ICMP Code
is the number of ICMP datagrams received with a bad code (which
identifies parameters for the control message).
Responses Cnt
is the total number of responses from this node to echoes and
requests for timestamps, information, and address masks (all
described later).
Out Echo Reply
is the number of outgoing responses to ICMP echo request data-
grams, which are sent by other entities in the IP network as a
means of confirming that communication is possible.
In Echo Reply
is the number of incoming ICMP echo responses, sent by other
entities in the IP network in response to echo requests
(see “
Out Echo
”) from this node.
Out/In Dest Unrech
is the number of outgoing datagrams that could not be delivered
because the destination device/network was not reachable, a nec-
essary protocol was not running, or fragmentation was necessary
but disallowed (due to the “don't frag” flag being set). The
