Configuring IP
14-3
Configuring IP Network and Node Parameters
If any FRX8000 Switch nodes will run IP, a network address must be configured in
the Network Defaults file. For each specific node that will run IP, additional param-
eters must be configured in the Node file.
IP Network Defaults
Press
[A]
three times, then
[C]
from the Main Menu. On the Network Defaults Menu,
select
IP Network Address
and configure the value with a valid address. (This address
is assigned by the Network Information Center at Stanford Research Institute.)
The node number of each IP interface will be appended to the IP Network Address, to
identify the interface.
Node Parameters
Press
[A], [B], [A], [C]
from the Main Menu. When prompted, enter the node number
(
1–250
) of a node that will run IP.
On the Node Maintenance screen, press
[1]
to display information specific to an
FRX8000 Switch.
On the second screen, the parameter
IP Gateway?
specifies whether
(Y)
or not
(N)
the
node will act as a gateway and forward IP packets it receives. If you need to change
the parameter, press the corresponding letter, and the setting will change automati-
cally.
The parameter
RIP Version
specifies the version of the Routing Information Protocol
(
1
or
2
) that the node supports. To change this value, press the corresponding letter
and, when prompted, enter the desired number.
