Configuring IP-Over-X.25 PVCs
An IP-over-X.25 PVC is a “permanent” connection between an IP interface and a
remote X.25 port. This allows communication between the attached devices as soon
as they are powered up, without having to first make a call to establish a connection.
To add or change a PVC, press
[C]
, then
[C]
again from the Connections and Routing
Paths Selection Menu (or
[A], [F], [C], [C]
from the Main Menu). When prompted,
enter:
●
Connection ID
:
0–9999
, which is a number unique to this connection.
●
Any other requested information, referring to
Table 14-3
.

When Changes Take Effect
When you add a new PVC record, the change will be written to the database as soon
as you enter the final parameter value. When you modify a parameter in an existing
record, the change will be written to the database instantly.
The virtual connection will be established when the nodes at both ends undergo
re-IPL. If you want to establish a connection without disrupting node operation, create
an identical PVC on line. Press
[D]
at the Operations Menu (or
[B], [D]
from the
Main
Menu) and enter the requested information, noting the values in
Table 14-3
. (This is
described in detail on
page 14-12
.)
