Configuring LPs and LAN Cards
6-9
When Changes Take Effect
When you add a new LP record, the change will be written to the database as soon as
you enter the final parameter value. When you modify an existing record, the change
will be written to the database immediately.
The change will become effective at the LP in one of the following ways:
●
A change to an LP in an ICP, INM, or NMP node is immediately effective when
the database record is changed.
●
A change to LP 0–3 in a DPPM node, can be implemented by performing a
Configuration Update
(
[B], [B], [D], [A]
from the Main Menu) to the node con-
taining the LP.
Be sure to perform the update to a DPPM node before the node
undergoes a re-IPL.
●
A change to LP 4–7 in a DPPM node will take effect at the next IPL of the node
containing the LP.
Standard LP Parameters
LP Type
Although pressing
[?]
for help displays a range of
1–6
, these are the supported types:
3
= AST Card
4
= T1/E1
6
= RLP-7000 Node
Big Packet Supported
determines whether this LP will support packet sizes up to 4096 bytes. If this is not
necessary, select
N
, which limits packet size to 512 bytes but increases efficiency of
some LP functions.
