Configuring PVCs
An FRX8000 PVC is a “permanent” connection between two remote FRX8000
Switch subscriber ports. This allows communication between the attached devices as
soon as they are powered up, without having to first make a call to establish a con-
nection.
FRX8000 Switch supports async-to-async, as well as async-to-X.25, PVCs. (N7400
and 7500 do not support async PVCs.)
To add or change a PVC, press
[C]
, then
[C]
again from the Connections and Routing
Paths Selection Menu (or
[A], [F], [C], [C]
from the Main Menu). When prompted,
enter:
●
Connection ID
:
0–9999
, which is simply a number unique to this connection.
●
Any other requested information, referring to
Table 13-5
.

from Main Menu
The parameters for an async-to-async PVC are the same as shown above,
with the exception of
PVC Type
.
When Changes Take Effect
When you add a new PVC record, the change will be written to the database as soon
as you enter the final parameter value. When you modify a parameter in an existing
record, the change will be written to the database instantly.
