4. If the connection to the remote node is established before the DCE Incoming Call
Timeout (configured in Network Defaults, described in
Chapter 4
), the following
will be displayed:
Answer the following question.
Y = Remote control from PAD with ANSI terminal.
N = Remote control from 999999nnn7. (where nnn is your node’s number)
Are you a PAD user?
If you are at an INM/NMP, type
[N] [Enter]
. If you are at an async terminal con-
nected to the INM or NMP node via an async PAD port, type
[Y] [Enter]
.
5. When prompted, enter the appropriate password:

The Main Menu of the controlled node will be displayed on the local screen, with
RMTID=nnn
displayed at the upper right. If the controlled node is a non-FRX8000
device,

will be the
Remote Control ID
of the controlled node. If the node is an
FRX8000,

will be

, where
xxx
is the node number.
A message on the controlled node’s screen will say:

.” The Main Menu at the controlling node will now act as the Main
Menu of the controlled node.
To return control to the remote node, press
[F9]
.
Message Services
Placing a Call
1. To place a call to a subscriber, press
[A]
at the Message Services Menu
(or
[B], [H], [A]
from the Main Menu) and enter the subscriber ID.
To place a call to another INM/NMP, press
[B]
at the Message Services Menu and
enter the node ID (the NMP's node if you are calling an NMP).
2. Once the call has been placed, a message will be displayed at the top of the screen:
Placed call to “n” (or Node “n”) - Awaiting reply
Once the call is connected, the subscriber or node number and name are displayed
at the top of the screen.
3. Enter your message. The maximum length for a single line is 70 printable char-
acters, including blanks (no control characters). At the end of each line,
press [Enter]
. This sends the line to the subscriber/INM/NMP.
When the subscriber/INM/NMP responds, the message is displayed in reverse
video. The messages you send and receive scroll upward on the screen as the dia-
logue continues.
4. To end the call, press
[F3]
. When the subscriber/INM/NMP ends the call, an
end
of call message
is displayed.
