1. After selecting
All Software Update
, enter (when prompted) a node ID or press
[Enter]
to specify all nodes.
File names will be displayed as the files are downloaded. When the operation is
finished,
Download is complete
will be displayed.
2. When asked:
Download to attached NMP?
, type
y [Enter].
This process will take at
least 30 minutes. File names will be displayed as the files are downloaded. When
the operation is finished,
Download is complete
will be displayed.
3. Press
[Enter]
to return to the Boot Disk Download Operations Menu, then press
[E]
to download a single file.
4. When prompted, enter the destination node ID.
5. When prompted for a source file name, type
dos/UNSYS.EXE [Enter]
.
6. When prompted for a destination file name, type
unsys.exe [Enter]
.
7. When notified that the download is complete, repeat steps 3–6 three times, the
first time downloading source file name dos/newstart to destination file name
UNSYS.EXE, the second time downloading source file name dos/start to desti-
nation file name start.new, and the third time downloading source file name ICP/
upia.o to destination file name upia.o.
8. When the last download is complete, press
[Enter]
to return to the Boot Disk
Download Operations Menu, then press
[R], [R], [F]
to perform
Transfer File
.
9. When prompted, enter the source node ID. (If you are transferring the file from
an NMP, this is the ID of the attached node.)
10. When prompted for a source file name, type
NMP/pia.o [Enter]
.
11. When prompted, enter the destination node ID.
12. When prompted for a destination file name, type
pia.o [Enter]
.
13. When notified that the transfer is complete, press
[Enter]
, then
[F]
, and repeat steps
9–12, transferring source file name NMP/rc.once to destination file name rc.once.
14. When the second transfer is complete, press
[Enter]
to return to the Network Oper-
ations Menu.
Once software has been downloaded to both the node and its NMP, follow these steps
at the remote site:
1. At the NMP, press
[R]
at the Main Menu.
2. At the
[NETLINK]
prompt, type
stop [Enter]
.
3. At the next
[NETLINK]
prompt, type
rc.once [Enter]
. (Ignore the warnings that say:
can't access
......)
4. At the next
[NETLINK]
prompt, type
su [Enter]
.
5. When prompted, enter your root password.
6. At the

prompt, type:
cp pia.o /etc/conf/pack.d/pia/Driver.o [Enter]
.
7. At the next
#
prompt, type
cd /etc/conf [Enter]
.
8. At the next
#
prompt, type
/etc/conf/bin/idbuild [Enter]
.
9. When asked (after 5-10 minutes):
Do you want this kernel to boot by default?

type
y [Enter]
