Configuring IPX Network and Node Parameters
If any FRX8000 Switches will run IPX, a network address must be configured in the
Network Defaults file, to identify the FRX8000 part of the internetwork. For each spe-
cific node that will run IPX, additional parameters must be configured in the Node file.
Network Defaults
Press
[A]
three times, then
[C]
from the Main Menu. On the Network Defaults Menu,
select
IPX WAN Network Address
and specify an address in the range of
1–fffffffe
.
(The default is
00000001
.)
Node Parameters
Press
[A], [B], [A], [C]
from the Main Menu. When prompted, enter the node number
(
1–250
) of a node that will run IPX.
On the Node Maintenance screen, press
[1]
to display information specific to an
FRX8000 Switch.
On the second screen, change the following parameters if necessary by pressing a cor-
responding letter and, when prompted, entering the desired value.

IPX Router Name: 1–48
characters. (The default is
OL8000_
[
node ID
].) This is an
identifier for the IPX network. It must be unique within the network.
●
IPX Router Network Address: 1–fffffffe
. (The default is
00000001
.) This is an
address for the virtual LAN within the FRX8000.
●
IPX Gap Time: 0–255
. (The default is
2
.) This is the minimum delay, in 55-milli-
second units, between consecutive RIP (Routing Information Protocol) and
SAP (Service Advertising Protocol) transmissions. This parameter provides
compatibility with older Novell servers.
