Chapter 21
Alarms
Alarm messages are reported to the disk and printer, at the originating node and up to
two other nodes (specified in the Node record as “Primary” and “Secondary”). Most
alarm operations are accessible from the Alarms Menu (
[D]
from the Main Menu).
Alarm Severity Levels
There are four levels of severity:
Level 1 = Serious Fault. This is a serious error and immediate action is required.
Level 2 = Major Fault. Take action as soon as possible.
Level 3 = Minor fault (or traffic disturbance). Clear the fault at the first suitable
occasion.
Level 4 = Informational Alarm. No action is necessary.
Changing Levels to be Printed
If you want to control the quantity of printed information, you can specify which
severity level(s) of alarms will be printed. For example, you may want to print only
those alarms that require action.
Turning off any levels here prevents printing only; all alarms are still
reported to the disk.
