Changing a Profile On Line
You can examine the current profile of any async PAD port in the network on line.
You can also temporarily change a profile without impacting traffic on the port.
Press
[J]
at the On-Line Port Operations Menu (or
[B], [A], [J]
from the Main Menu.
When prompted, enter the node, LP, and port numbers. A screen of parameters will be
displayed. The first two entries on the first screen are
DTE Can Change
(
Y/N
) and
Remote Can Change
(
Y/N
). (The default for each is
Y
). These specify whether on-line
profile changes can be made from the local (DTE) and/or remote (Remote) async PAD
subscribers.
Table 13-1
lists the valid and default values for the remaining Async PAD Profile
parameters. After entering any parameter changes:

To select another record without saving the new value(s), press
[F2]
to return to
the
Node:
prompt.
●
To ignore the new value(s) and keep the old one(s), press
[F3]
to return to the
menu.
●
To save the new value(s), press
[F1]
; you will be returned to the
Node:
prompt,
and the change(s) will be in effect until the next on-line change occurs or the
connection is broken.
After saving any changes as described, press
[F3]
to return to the On-Line Port Oper-
ations Menu.
Configuring PAD Login Records
If an async PAD user will be required to log into an FRX8000 port, a login record must
be configured. To add or change login ID parameters, press
[D]
, then
[C]
from the
Network Selection Menu (or
[A],[A],[D],[C]
from the Main Menu). When prompted,
enter the Subscriber ID assigned to the async device. (A record for this ID must be
configured in the Subscriber ID file, described on
page 13-17
.)
