FRX8000 3. 0 User G uide, Rev 02
Level “n” Secondary Node
is another ICP/INM that (in addition to the “local” and Primary nodes) will receive
alarm messages with severity level “n” (1–4) from this node.
FRX8000-specific Parameters
IP Gateway?
determines whether the node will act as a network gateway and try to forward IP
packets that have destinations unknown to the node.
RIP Version
specifies the version of RIP (Routing Information Protocol) that will be used, if that
protocol is used on this node.
IPX Router Name
is simply an identifier for the IPX network. It must be unique within the network.
IPX Router Network Address
is the IPX network address for the virtual LAN within the FRX8000.
IPX Gap Time
is the minimum delay, in 55-millisecond units, between consecutive RIP and SAP
(Service Advertising Protocol) transmissions. This parameter provides compatibility
with older Novell servers.
Connection Limit
is the maximum number of simultaneous logical connections supported on this node:
0
= 256
1
= 512
2
= 1024
3
= 2048
The valid connection limits depend on the platform on which the node resides and/or
which connection upgrade option has been purchased for this node.
●
A Model 2 can support 512 or 1024 connections with a purchased upgrade.
●
A Rackmount node can support 512 connections by specifying that value, then
entering a serial number and activation key (both supplied with the node). The
node can also support 1024 or 2048 connections with a purchased upgrade kit.
SNA LLC2 Virtual LAN ID
is used internally by the FRX8000 to identify a virtual bridge that connects the LLC2
function to LAN interfaces. This ID is normally assigned by a system administrator.
N7000-specific Parameters
Async Terminal Control
allows a VT100-type terminal to be connected to a COM1 port on an N7400, and to
act as an operator console for the node.
DOS Extended Mode
allows use of an N7400 DPPM node's expanded memory (2Mb must be installed) to
allow up to 264 simultaneous connections on the node. (Without this feature, the
maximum is 80.)
