Printing Backup Files
If you do not know the name of the file you want to print, press
[B], [B], [F]
from the Main Menu to list all backup call accounting files.
To print a backup file (it may be quite large):
1. Press
[R]
at the
Main Menu
.
2. At the
[NETLINK]
prompt, type:
cat acnt/CAF.“yymmddhhmm” > /dev/tty1a [Enter]
.
Copying the File to Diskette
Unix-formatted Disk
Insert the diskette into the drive and, at the
[NETLINK]
prompt, type:
tar cv acnt/CAF.“yymmddhhmm” [Enter]
. This copies the file to the “default” drive,
which is the drive used to install the Unix operating system into the node. If the com-
puter has two diskette drives and you are unsure which is the default (or want to
change it), refer to the FRX8000 Maintenance Guide.
DOS-formatted Disk
Before copying a call accounting file to a DOS disk, the file
should be renamed, since DOS recognizes only the first three
characters after the period, and these might be identical in more
than one file.
To rename and copy a file:
1. At the
[NETLINK]
prompt type:
cd acnt [Enter]
.
2. Type:
mv (oldname) (newname) [Enter]
.
For example:
mv CAF.9310151132 CAF.BK1 [Enter]
.
3. Insert the diskette into the drive and type:
doscp CAF.”nnn” x: [Enter]
(or
y:
[Enter]
). (
x
and
y
are equivalent to drives A and B.)
4. Type:
cd.. [Enter]
to return to the “home” directory.
Deleting Backup Files from the Hard Disk
Once a file is deleted there is no way to recover it; therefore,
delete the file only if
(a)
you have copied it to a backup disk, or
(b)
you are certain you have no need for the information.
To display a list of backup accounting files residing in the “home” directory
(
/u/netlink/acnt
if the FRX8000 software was installed by Cabletron), press
[F]
at the
Node Operations Menu (or
[B], [B], [F]
from the Main Menu). When prompted, enter:
●
Your low-level operations password.
●
The ID of the node whose backup files you want to display/delete.
To delete a file, select the corresponding letter, then type
y [Enter]
when asked to verify
that you want to delete that file.
