Testing Connectivity via IP Ping
The IP Ping function sends packets to an IP host to determine whether the host is
reachable. Press
[E]
, then
[H]
from the Main Menu to display the following.

To begin the test:
1. If a node other than the local one will generate the pings, press
[A]
and specify a
node number:
1–250
. (If the local node will generate the pings, this parameter can
be skipped.)
2. Press
[B]
and enter an IP address of the host that will receive (and echo) the pings.
3. Make any desired changes to the remaining displayed values, noting Table 22-1.
(Figure 22-1 shows the default settings.)
4. After all parameters are configured the way you want them, press
[Enter]
, and the
node will begin sending pings. As each ping is returned from the host, a message
will be displayed, noting the packet size and IP address of the host.
5. To stop sending pings, press
[F3]
. Test statistics will be displayed.
6. Press
[F3]
again to exit the Tests Menu.
