Displaying Software Release Numbers
To display the release number of the FRX8000 management (INM/NMP) software, at
the
[NETLINK]
prompt type
cat release [Enter].
To display the UNIX software release number, at the
[NETLINK]
prompt
type
uname -X [Enter]
.
Displaying Active Processes
To display all active FRX8000 processes, at the
[NETLINK]
prompt type
stat [Enter]
.
Analyzing Routing Updates
Two programs, run from the
[NETLINK]
prompt, allow the user to collect routing
update packets from all nodes in the network, then analyze the network paths.
Collecting the Update Packets
To collect update packets, at the
[NETLINK]
prompt, type:
getrup [-s(size)] [-t(time)] -o(file) [Enter]
,
where:
(size)
is the (optional) maximum file size in Kbytes
(time)
is the (optional) maximum time in minutes, and
(file)
is the name of the output file.
Routing update packets will be collected continuously until:
●
Maximum time is reached, or
●
Maximum file size is reached, or
●
Operator presses
[F3]
.
Analyzing the Data
Analysis of the data collected with
getrup
can be done on any UNIX-based 386, 486,
or Pentium PC. The program,
rupana
, will compute the maximum link cost, mean link
cost, and standard deviation.
At the
[NETLINK]
prompt, type:
rupana [-a] [-t] [-l] [-s(source)] [-d(dest)] (file) [Enter]
,
where:
-a
requests output of maximum and mean link costs and standard
deviation.
-t
prints a table of link costs and standard deviation.
-l
suppresses text to provide more suitable output for input to
another program. (rupana normally outputs text and numbers.)
-s (source)
specifies an (optional) filter that limits output to link costs from
the specified node (source).
-d (dest)
specifies an (optional) filter that limits output to link costs to the
specified node.
(file)
is the input file name specified in
getrup
.
