2.2 Starting the ISE
Perform the following ISE start-up and daily maintenance procedures before beginning analysis.
For information on commercial control sera for the ISE, refer to Section 1 at the beginning of
this chapter.
Starting the ISE Unit
1. Verify the ISE power switch is on.
2. Verify that the ISE reagents have not expired. Refer to the package insert for information
on open bottle stability.

Check the level of liquid in the tanks. If the liquid level is low, an insufficient liquid alarm will
sound. After this alarm occurs, the following number of samples can be processed: 180 for
Mid, 600 for Reference, and 240 for Buffer solution.

3. Verify the ISE buffer syringe is not leaking and that condensation is not visible.
