6.13 Programming a New Test
T
he following procedure explains how to define a new test. For detailed information on each
software screen refer to “Chapter D, Software” located in this guide
.
1. Assign the name, reagent ID, and select the test order:
A. Select [Parameters], [Common Test Parameters], [Test Name]. There are 6 tabs on screen
to choose from: Test Name, Long Name, Reagent ID, Calculated Tests, Multi-Reagent
Switch, and Use Cuvette.
B. In the “Test Name” tab, select function key F4 (set) and click on an available test number
(1-95, Numbers 96-99 are set). Select function key F5 (edit). Enter the abbreviated test
name, 1-5 characters. Click the “close” button.
Note
Do not change the test name without noting the time and date the change occurred. If the test name is
changed it will affect all test results retrospectively with that test number. Consequently, any previously
reported results (with the old name) will be assigned the new test name. Use extreme caution when
making any changes to the test name and all recorded changes.
C. Click on the “Reagent ID” tab. Press function key F4 (set). Then click on the new test
and press function key F5 (edit). Under “Test Code,” enter the first 3 digits of the reagent
ID, or refer to the top of the methodology sheet for the reagent ID. Click the “close”
button.
D. Click on the “Use Cuvette” tab to assign tests to the inner or outer cuvette wheel. Select
function key F4 (set) and pick the test number. Select function key F5 (edit) and make
changes. Click the “close” button.
Note:
To maximize throughput, place the most frequently used tests first in the numerical
list on the [Test Name] screen. Alternate tests evenly on the inner and outer wheel. If
the same test is placed on the inner and outer wheel, throughput will not be maximized
because twice the calibration and QC will be required. All pre-dilution tests must be
placed on the inner wheel.
E. Optional: Use the “Multi-Reagent” tab to select reagents that will automatically calibrate
new R1 & R2 simultaneously. If this screen is not used, new R1 will be calibrated with
old R2, or old R1 will be calibrated with new R2 (depending on which bottle is empty
first). Press function key F4 (set) if the tests are grey in color. If the tests are white,
use your mouse to select the tests that will automatically calibrate for R1 and R2. When
selected, the test will be highlighted in blue. Press function key F2 (exit) twice.
It is not
possible to set LIH or ISE tests as multi-reagent items.
2. Add the new test to the round:
A. Select [Parameters], [Common Test Parameters], [Round].
B. Select function key F4 (set). Select function key F8 (round no.). Select the round
requiring the new test (1, 2, or 3) and click “OK.”
C. From the “Test No.” field, select the new test.
Important
The order in which the tests are added to the round is the order they will print from the data log.
D. Press function key F2 (exit) twice.
