6.2.3 Using the Red Rack
Use the red rack when processing large quantities of emergency samples. The procedure for
requisitioning emergency samples using the red rack is the same as that for normal analysis
except they are requisitioned as “E” samples. An “E” will appear on the printout before the
sample number indicating the emergency sample and data.
Tips
If there are white racks on the transport belt, the red rack cannot be analyzed until the white rack samples
have been analyzed. If the emergency samples must be processed immediately, use the STAT table
instead of the red rack.
Processing an Emergency Sample Using the Red Rack
The following explanation assumes that the system has already been started. First, display the
screen for performing normal analysis requisition.
Tips
If normal analysis is in progress and emergency racks must be processed, press the feeder stop key. The
window for stopping the feeder is displayed. Select “YES” and press enter. The rack feeding process
stops.
1. On the main screen, select [Routine], [Test Requisition], and [Normal], in that order.
The screen for requisitioning normal analysis is displayed.

2. From the “S. No.” field, type “E,” then press enter. The next available emergency sample
number will display.
3. Select the sample type.
4 Press function key F4 (start entry).
5. Enter sample ID, sex, age and profile if required.
6. Select the tests to be performed on the sample.
7. Press function key F4 (entry). The next sample number is available for requisition.
