Precautions on Use
To use the system safely and effectively, observe the following precautions.
Special considerations when using the Windows NT operating system:
Do not play audio CDs or games on the Windows NT computer. This may compromise the
•
performance of the system.
Do not press C Alt + Delete to access Windows NT programs. This compromises
•
the integrity of the operating system.
Only play the maintenance video clips in the Standby mode. Playing videos in a measure
•
mode could compromise analyzer performance.
To exit the menu and operation help programs, use "Exit Help" located in the bookmark
•
column located to the left side of the screen. Do not click random areas of the screen to
close help programs. The application will continue to run in the background.
Do not press any keys on the keyboard when the analyzer is first turned on (booting-up).
•
You may use the keyboard when the password or start-up screen appears.
Do not change indexes during a measure mode. This will cause the analyzer to function
•
inappropriately and could affect results.
Do not attempt to change parameters during a measure mode. This will compromise the
•
integrity of your system and data.
Do not use a screen saver. This could cause the analyzer to function inappropriately.
•
General Precautions During Use of the System
Caution
Handling samples (Samples available for analysis)
This system is designed to analyze serum, urine, and other body fluids. If problems are
•
encountered when analyzing a specific test or when using a specific reagent, consult the
reagent manufacturer or distributor.
Use serum that is sufficiently separated from blood clots and urine that is free from
•
suspended matter or the probe may be clogged and adverse affects on analysis may
result. The analyzer clot detection function is affected by the amount of sample aspirated.
Clot detection occurs inconsistently when the sample volume for a test is < 16uL.
Exercise care when mixing chemicals (medicine, anticoagulant, preservative, etc.).
•
Handling samples (Storing samples)
Store samples according to your laboratory protocol. Improper storage of samples may
•
compromise the integrity of the sample. Example: Refrigeration of blood increases
potassium in the blood.
Handling samples (Pretreating samples)
Fibrin suspended in the serum may clog the probe.
