Select the LIH Tab
Set an LIH test
There are two methods of LIH determination:
Beckman Coulter LIH Reagent
•
- OSR62166 (Barcoded with preset parameters, see
Methodology sheet).
Saline
•
The following is a procedure to program parameters using saline the LIH reagent.
The following screen provides an example only. Please contact Beckman Coulter Technical

Precautions
All LIH testing must be programmed to the dedicated LIH reagent (saline) in position number 96 in
[Parameters], [Common Test Parameters], [Test Name], "LIH Reagent Test Name".
Use of an R1 chemistry reagent for LIH testing may cause a program error resulting in one chemistry
assay being conducted using the parameters ofa different chemistry assay, potentially generating
erroneous sample results.
1. Verify that Use Test Name displays 96. LIH
Sample: Volume
Enter 1.6 to 25 uL
Sample: Dilution
Enter 0
Reagents R1 Volume
Enter 15 to 250 µL.
Reagents R1 Dilution
Enter 0 (no dilution) or 10 to 250 µL.
Onboard Stability Period
Enter 1 to 999 for the number of days a reagent is
stable once it is placed on the analyzer. Press the
spacebar, then enter, if no setting is desired. The “a”
flag is generated when the onboard stability period is
exceeded.
Level: Lipemia, Icterus, Hemolysis
Define OD limits for each LIH flag level: +, ++, +++,
++++, +++++. The OD limit for each subsequent level
should be higher than the previous OD limit. The range
available is 0.0000 to 2.0000. The LIH flag is the upper
OD limit or maximum value that applies to that flag
level. The flag is applied to samples with reactions ODs
greater than the OD limit specified for the next lower
level, but less than or equal to the OD limit specified for
the printed flag for lipemia, icterus, or hemolysis. The
LIH level applies to the reaction OD values after factor
adjustment.
For example, a sample with a lipemia
reaction OD of 0.0450 would be flagged LIP++, an
icterus reaction OD of 0.0100 would be flagged ICT
N and a hemolysis reaction OD of 0.0500 would be
flagged HEM N
