Caution
•
PCM is sensitive to static electrical
charges. If exposed to these charges,
damage may result. If service of PCM is
required, use the following safeguards to
avoid damage to components.
1. Leave the PCM in their original
packaging until ready to install into
vehicles.
2. Avoid touching PCM connector pins.
3. Avoid laying modules on
nonconductive surfaces.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the rear console. (Refer to 09-17 REAR
CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

PCM Removal Note
•
The PCM stores information on vehicle operating
conditions including information to compensate for
component tolerances. When an emission related
component is replaced, Keep Alive Memory
(KAM) in the PCM should be cleared by
disconnecting the battery terminal to erase the
information stored on the original component.

5. Connect the negative battery cable.
6. Measure the voltage at each terminal.
7.
If any incorrect voltage is detected, check related
systems, wiring harnesses and connectors
referring to the possible malfunction in the
terminal voltage list.

POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) INSPECTION
Caution
•
The PCM terminal voltages vary with
change in measuring conditions and
vehicle conditions. Always carry out a
total inspection of the input systems,
output systems, and PCM to determine the
cause of trouble. Otherwise, some
incorrect diagnosis would be made.
Using the SST (104 Pin Breakout Box)
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the PCM connector.
3. Connect the
SST
(104 Pin Breakout Box) to the
PCM as shown.
