CHECK FOR RESTRICTION AT CHARCOAL
CANISTER AND CDCV
• Check for kinks or bends in fuel vapor
hoses from fuel tank to in-line tee and from
tee to both purge solenoid valve and
charcoal canister.
• Disconnect both ends of fuel vapor hose
between charcoal canister and pressure
control valve.
• Check for vacuum bleed on disconnected
fuel vapor hose with vacuum pump. Fuel
vapor hose must not hold vacuum.
• Check for excessive debris in charcoal
Yes
SERVICE as necessary.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

COMPLETE OBD II Drive Mode.
RERUN OBD Test.

• Check for kinks or bends in purge air inlet
tube (larger diameter hose) between CDCV
and atmosphere.
• Is an obstruction indicated?
No
Go to next step.

CHECK TUBE FROM CANISTER DRAIN
CUT VALVE (CDCV) FILTER PORT TO
ATMOSPHERE
• Disconnect vacuum hose to atmosphere at
CDCV.
Yes
RECONNECT all components.
Go to step 7.
• Install a hand-held vacuum pump to CDCV
side of vacuum hose.
• Apply vaccum to vacuum hose.
•
Does air flow?
No
Go to next step.

INSPECTION OF CHECK VALVE
• Remove and Inspect check valve for
plugging.
•
Is the fault detected?
Yes
REPLACE the check valve.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

RERUN OBD Test.
No
Go to next step.

INSPECTION OF AIR FILTER
• Remove and inspect air filter for plugging.
• Is fault detected?
Yes
REPLACE air filter.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

COMPLETE OBD II Drive Mode.
RERUN OBD Test.
No
REPLACE the vacuum hose.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

CHECK CDCV MECHANICAL OPERATION
OPEN VACUUM POSITION
• Key off.
• Disconnect vacuum hose at both ends of
CDCV.
• If CDCV is directly attached to charcoal
canister, disconnect fuel vapor hose from
purge solenoid valve to charcoal canister at
charcoal canister.
• Install hand-held vacuum pump to vent to
atmosphere side of CDCV.
• CDCV electrically connected.
• Apply -5 3 kPa {-0 .5 3 kgf/cm2, -1 6 inHg) of
vacuum to CDCV.

Yes
REMOVE vacuum pump.
REPLACE CDCV.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.
