Warning
Following troubleshooting flow chart contains fuel system diagnosis and repair procedures. Read following
warnings before performing fuel system service:
• Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames
away from fuel.
• Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel
can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete “BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE" and “AFTER

STEP
INSPECTION
ACTION
1
CHECK FTP SENSOR
•
Key on, engine off.
Note
•
FTP V PID should read between 2.50 and
2.70 volts. Start engine If FTP V PID is
equal to or less than 0.33 volt.
•
Access FTP V PID.
•
Key on, engine running.
•
Idle engine for 3 minutes.
•
Loosen fuel filler cap.
•
Again, access FTP V PID with NGS tester.
• Is FTP V PID voltage between 2.40 and
2.80 volts?
Yes
INSTALL fuel filler cap only 1/8 turn so cap initially clicks
by sound or touch.
Go to step 3.
No
INSTALL fuel filler cap only 1/8 turn so cap initially clicks
by sound or touch.
Go to next step.
2
CHECK CONSTANT VOLTAGE AT FTP
SENSOR VEHICLE HARNESS
CONNECTOR
• Key off.
• Disconnect FTP sensor vehicle harness
connector.
• Key on, engine off.
• Measure voltage between constant voltage
circuit and FTP sensor ground circuit at
FTP sensor vehicle harness connector.
• Is constant voltage voltage between
4.0
and
6.0
volts?
Yes
Constant voltage is open In FTP sensor.
REPLACE FTP sensor.
REMOVE breakout box.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.
tr
After Repair Procedure
COMPLETE OBD II Drive Mode.
RERUN OBD Test.
No
Constant voltage is out of range.
SERVICE open or short in constant voltage circuit.
