INSPECTION OF FUEL FILLER CAP
• Key off.
• Disconnect NGS tester.
• Confirm filler cap is not either
disconnected, loose or damaged.
Note
• It is considered abnormal when filler caps
other than order entry system (OES) caps
are attached.
• Is fault detected?
Yes
REPLACE or PROPERLY attach filler cap.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

COMPLETE OBD II Drive Mode.
RERUN OBD Test.
No
Go to next step.

INSPECTION OF VACUUM HOSES
• Pull slightly on vacuum hoses at purge
solenoid, catch tank and charcoal canister.
• Check for loose connections.
• Visually inspect for impropely connection
and cracked hoses between dynamic
chamber and purge solenoid, purge
solenoid and catch tank, catch tank and
charcoal canister.
• Confirm air tightness of vacuum hose by
using vacuum pump.
•
Is fault detected?
Yes
SERVICE or REPLACE as necessary.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

RERUN OBD Test.
No
RECONNECT all components.
Go to next step.

CHECK FOR PURGE SOLENOID VALVE -
VALVE STUCK CLOSED OR STUCK OPEN
• Remove purge solenoid valve.
• Confirm purge solenoid is vents air properly
when at ON and is air tight when at OFF.
• Is fault detected?
Yes
REPLACE purge solenoid valve.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

RERUN OBD Test.
No
RECONNECT ail components.
Go to next step.

INSPECTION OF CATCH TANK
• Remove catch tank.
• Visually inspect for cracked catch tank.
• Inspect catch tank for plugging by using
vacuum pump.
• Is fault detected?
Yes
REPLACE catch tank.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

RERUN OBD Test.
No
RECONNECT all components.
Go to next step.

CHECK FOR INTAKE MANIFOLD VACUUM
TO PURGE CONTROL SYSTEM
• Key off.
• Attach vacuum gauge to intake manifold
vacuum source for purge control system.
• Key on, engine running.
• Warm up engine to normal operating
temperature.
• Measure intake manifold vacuum.
•
Did manifold vacuum rise above 54 kPa
{407 mmHg, 16 InHg}.
Yes
DISCONNECT vacuum gauge.
RECONNECT all components.
Go to next step.
No
INSPECT and SERVICE plugging, cracking, or damages
on dynamic chamber vacuum passage.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

INSPECTION OF CHARCOAL CANISTER
• Remove charcoal canister.
• Visually inspect for cracked charcoal
canister.
• Inspect charcoal canister for plugging by
using vacuum pump.
• Is fault detected?
Yes
REPLACE charcoal canister.
RECONNECT all components.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

No
RECONNECT all components.
