TROUBLESHOOTING [ENGINE CONTROL FS]

INSPECTION ACTION
36 CHECK INJECTOR DRIVER SIGNAL
Note
• This test requires standard 12 volt test
lamp.
• Key off.
• Install breakout box.
• Connect test lamp between Test Pin 71/97
and suspected fuel injector Test Pin(s).

Note
• At idle properly operating system will cause
dim glow on test lamp.
• Crank or start engine.
• Does test lamp have a dim glow while
cranking or running engine?
Yes REMOVE breakout box.
RECONNECT PCM.
Go to next step.
No No light and/or continuous bright light.
REPLACE PCM
REMOVE breakout box.
COMPLETE OBD II Drive Mode.
RERUN OBD Test.
37 FLOW TEST FUEL INJECTOR(S)
• Is leakage and flow within specification?
Yes DTCs P0171, P1130 and P1131:
Go to next step.
DTCs P0172:
The fault that produced the DTC is intermittent.
Go to ENGINE SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING No. 27
with following data:
SHRTFT1, LONGFT1, PIDs and list of possible causes.
For DTCs P1132:
Go to step 41.
No
REPLACE fuel injector.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

After Repair Procedure
COMPLETE OBD II Drive Mode.
RERUN OBD Test.
38 INSPECT INDUCTION SYSTEM FOR AIR
LEAKS
• Inspect following areas for signs of air
leaks:
• Inlet tube(s) from air cleaner to throttle
body.
• Gaskets which seal upper and lower
intake manifold.
• Vacuum hoses and lines for cranks and
proper connections.
• PCV system.
• Are there any sings of leaks or damage?
Yes SERVICE as necessary.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.
&■ After Repair Procedure
COMPLETE OBD II Drive Mode.
RERUN OBD Test.
No CONTINUOUS DTCs P0171 or P1130:
Fault that produced DTC is intermittent.
Go to ENGINE SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING No. 27
with following data:
SHORTFT1, LONGFT1, 02S11 PIDs and a list of possible
causes.
DTCs P1131 and P1130:
Go to next step.

CHECK CYLINDER COMPRESSION
Note
• Use Misfire DTC(s)
displayed on prior
DTC
retrieval to determine which cylinder to
perform compression.
• Check cylinder compression.

[FS]
• Are cylinder compression readings
within specification?__________________
Yes
For DTCs P1131 and P1130:
Go to next step.
For DTC P1132:
Go to step 41.
Misfire DTCs displayed with fuel control DTCs:
Go to appropriate misfire monitor DTC.
No SERVICE as necessary.
RESET PCM to completely clear DTCs.

COMPLETE OBD II Drive Mode.
RERUN OBD Test.
