Power management unit (PMU)
5.1.
Overview
The power consumption is regarded as one of the most important issues for the devices of
GD32W51x series. According to the Power management unit (PMU), provides five types of
power saving modes, including Sleep, Deep-sleep, Standby, SRAM_sleep and Wi-Fi_sleep
mode. These modes reduce the power consumption and allow the application to achieve the
best tradeoff among the conflicting demands of CPU operating time, speed and power
consumption. For GD32W51x devices, there are three power domains, including V
DD
/ V
DDA
domain,
1.2V domain, and Backup domain, as is shown in the following figure. The power of
the V
DD
domain is supplied directly by V
DD
. An embedded LDO in the V
DD
/ V
DDA
domain is
used to supply the 1.2V domain power. A power switch is implemented for the Backup domain.
It can be powered from the V
BAT
voltage when the main V
DD
supply is shut down.

Characteristics
Three
power domains: V
BAK
, V
DD
/ V
DDA
and
1.2V power domains.
Five power saving modes: Sleep, Deep-sleep
, Standby, SRAM_sleep and Wi-Fi_sleep
modes.
Internal Voltage regulator (LDO) supplies around 1.1V / 1.2V voltage source for
1.2V
domain.
V
DD
Low Voltage Detector can issue an interrupt or event when the power is lower than
a programmed threshold.
V
DDA
Low Voltage Detector can issue an interrupt or event when the V
DDA
is equal to or
lower than the specified threshold (2.4V).
Battery power (V
BAT
) for Backup domain when V
DD
is shut down.
LDO output voltage select for power saving.
Ultra power saving for low-driver mode in Deep-sleep mode.
SRAM1 / SRAM2 / SRAM3 can be power-off
Wi-Fi_OFF domain can be power-off
