In the default configuration the channel base frequency f
b
is used. The result is dis-
played in the "Frequency Result" column. A red "Freq. Conversion" field indicates that
the hardware limits are exceeded, e.g. if the default sweep range of the analyzer is
beyond the frequency range of the external generator.
Modify Frequency Conversion Dialog
The "Modify Frequency Conversion" dialog defines a port-specific stimulus frequency
range (for frequency sweeps) or CW frequency (for power, time and CW Mode
sweeps).

Frequency conversion formula
The port frequencies are calculated as a multiple of the channel base frequency f
b
plus
an offset:
f
port
= a * f
b
+ b * <Offset>
The conversion formula has been modeled according to the needs of a typical fre-
quency-converting measurement where mixer products, intermodulation products, or
harmonics occur:
●
With a base ratio a = 1, an offset ratio b =
±
1, and a frequency offset equal to the
LO frequency, the formula is appropriate for mixer measurements: If the RF signal
is at the channel base frequency, the port frequency is at the frequency of the
upper and lower sideband (IF frequency).
●
Integer offset ratios b > 1 are suited for the measurement of higher-order intermo-
dulation products.
●
With zero offset and integer a, the port frequency corresponds to the a
th
harmonic
of the channel base frequency.
