Introducing the NT Voice Mail System
About the NT Voice Mail System
The NT Voice Mail system provides a fully-integrated Automated Attendant and Voice Mail for
your telephone system. Outside callers can use the system to leave recorded messages for the
people in your company. Inside callers can use it to leave recorded messages for each other. The
Voice Mail then stores each voice message in the voice mailbox of the intended recipient.
Voice Mail subscribers access the system by calling their own voice mailboxes from either inside or
outside the company. After calling, subscribers press codes on their Touch Tone phones in order to
listen to their messages and use other Voice Mail features like the Automated Attendant.
About the Automated Attendant
The chief function of the Automated Attendant is to answer your company's incoming calls. You
can program the Automated Attendant to answer all lines or only some lines. One common setup is
to have the Automated Attendant greet an outside caller with a recorded Welcome Message, which
normally includes a greeting and Instruction Menu. A typical Welcome Message would say: Thank
you for calling company ABC. Please dial the extension number you wish to reach. Or dial 1 for
sales, dial 2 for customer service. After hearing the Welcome Message, callers can route their own
calls by dialing either the desired extension number or the code specified in the Instruction Menu.
You can use the Flexible Answering Schedules feature to have the Automated Attendant greet
callers one way during the day and another way at night. You simply program the day (or date) and
time that a specific company greeting should play. (For instructions, see Customizing Answering
Schedule Tables starting on page 105.)
