Call Announcing (cont’d)
Option 2
Option 2 lets an extension receive Call Announcing prompts when it is busy on a handset call as well
as when the extension is not busy (as described in Option 1). The Voice Mail breaks into the exten-
sion's handset call by dialing the phone system's codes for Off-Hook Signaling. Then, the Voice Mail
plays: Hello. I have a call for (Subscriber's extension number or mailbox name) from (callers'
recorded name). The extension user can put their current call on hold and answer the waiting call. Or,
the extension user can ignore the prompts and not pick up the waiting call.
If the extension user does not pick up the call within a pre-programmed amount of time, the phone
system will alert the caller to the waiting call. In the case of the ONYX, the phone system sends two
short ring bursts to the extension and, if the extension is a display phone, shows
CALL WAITING
in
the display. If the caller still does not pick up the call, the Voice Mail says: Extension XXX is busy. At
the tone you can leave a message. Beep., and the caller can leave a message. Option 2 does not pro-
vide Call Announcing for Handsfree calls. The Voice Mail simply plays the normal prompts for a
busy extension: Extension XXX is busy. To leave a message, press 1. For other options, press 2. or
the prompts for the Voice Mail Call Queuing or Call Waiting, if enabled.
Option 3
Option 3 (for ONYX only) lets an extension receive Call Waiting beeps when on a Handsfree
call AND Call Announcing as described in Option 2 (above). That is, the Option 3 Handsfree
extension user does not hear the Call Announcing prompts, but does get Call Waiting beeps
when an Automated Attendant caller tries to get through. A Display Phone also shows
CALL
WAITING
in the display and the Voice Mail master extension number. If the extension user
does not pick up the call, the Voice Mail plays Extension XXX does not answer. To leave a
message press 1. For other options, press 2.
