Chapter 5: Maintenance
To use the floppy diskettes for setup (cont’d):
41. On the Display Settings dialog box:
Click the
button to save your settings, and then click
the
button on the Display Properties window.
42. Label your blank, formatted floppy disk as “Emergency Repair Disk”, and then insert it into
the A: drive.
43. On the setup dialog box warning about the erasure of any files on the Emergency Repair Disk:
Click the
button.
Windows NT will create an Emergency Repair Disk.
44. When the system has finished creating this disk:
Remove the Emergency Repair Disk from the A: drive.
45. Remove the CD-ROM from the CD drive.
46. Click the Restart Computer button, and press the Enter key, when prompted.
47. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys.
The Logon Information window will be displayed. Now you can logon to the system as the
Administrator.
Or to use the CD-ROM for setup:
1.
To enter the BIOS Setup screen:
Press the DEL key as instructed by the prompt during the BIOS boot process.
2.
Change the boot sequence to CD-ROM, C, A.
3.
Insert the Windows NT Installation CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
4.
Exit the BIOS setup program.
The computer will boot from the CD-ROM, and the Windows NT setup will begin.
5.
After Windows NT is installed, change the BIOS setup so that the boot sequence is
C, CD-ROM, A.
The Logon Information window will be displayed. Now you can logon to the system as the
Administrator.
After setting up the NT Server Operating System:
