About the Programming Chapter
Chapter 3 (Programming) explains how to use to program your Voice Mail system. From your com-
puter, you can install the phone system you plan to use and the ports through which calls will enter
and leave your Voice Mail. I Furthermore, the chapter explains how to view your installation setups
to check that they are configured as you expected.This chapter also explains how to use these win-
dows to personalize (customize) the following options or features in your Voice Mail system as
well as display/print reports about them:

Answering Schedule Tables

Dial Action Tables
Q
Fax-On-Demand
Q
Mailbox Options
Q
Port Options
Q
System Options
Q
Tenant Options.
In addition, this chapter explains how to use these tools to do the following:
Q
move files from your hard drive onto a super diskette or another hard drive on the LAN
Q
return to your hard drive any items stored during the local backup
Q
test the functionality of your Voice Mail ports and clear any dysfunctional port
Q
adjust the settings for data transmission protocol, such as baud rate and parity
Q
use Call Adaptations Options to view, edit, add, and delete tone records from the tone table and
to customize the Global, Channel, and Call Parameters on your Dialogic Card
Q
set up integration strings (if you have installed a Generic phone system)
Q
use the network to perform maintenance, programming, and/or service operations
Q
select trace message and/or events to be recorded by the Voice Mail and then stored in theTrace
Database and to adjust display options.
Finally, this chapter explains how use the following when you select these items on the Tool bar:

Port Activity to see what calls are entering and leaving your system

Real Trace to see the trace messages and/or events as they are happening

Trace Viewer to see the contents of your Trace (historical) database

Message Status to see the current status of any message stored in your Voice Mail system.
