Installing NT Configuration Program
Windows 95/98 Client Computer
To install the NT configuration program on a Windows 95/98 client
computer:
1.
Click the
button. Select Settings and then Control Panel.
2.
Double-click the Network icon on the Control Panel window.
3.
On the Network window:
Click to select the Access Control tab.
Select the User-level access control radio button.
Enter the name of the domain to which the client computer belongs in the Obtain test of users
and groups from box, and click the
button.
4.
Insert the Windows 95/98 CD-ROM into the CD drive.
5.
Follow the screen instructions for copying files.
Windows will copy files from the CD-ROM.
6.
When finished copying files, close the Control Panel window.
7.
Double-click the My Computer icon.
8.
Right-click the (C:) icon.
9.
On the drop-down menu:
Select Sharing.
10. On the (C:) Properties window:
Select the Sharing tab.
Click the Shared As radio button.
Enter C-DRIVE in the Share Name box, and click the
button.
11. On the Add Users window:
Select VMServer from the scroll-down Name list.
Click the Full Access button and then the
button.
12. Close the My Computer window.
13. Insert the NT Installation CD-ROM into the CD drive.
14. Step for Windows 95 users only on the Setup window:
Select DCOM95, and click the
button to install DCOM95.
Select DCOM95 Configuration. Click the
button to install the configuration
program for DCOM95 for Windows 95.
Windows 95 does not come with DCOM pre-installed.
(Windows 98 users should omit this step and perform Step 16 instead.)
15. Step for Windows 98 users only in the Internet Explorer program:
To download the latest version of DCOM for Windows 98 (which Microsoft does not allow
CTL to distribute), enter:
http://www.microsoft.com/com

http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom98/dcom1_3.asp
16. On the Setup window:
Select NT Client, and click the
button.
