Defining Ping Function Page
Use this screen to tell the switch to send a Ping request to a specified IP address. You can use this to
check whether the switch can communicate with a particular IP station. Once you click the Submit button,
the switch will send three pings and the results will be displayed below the configurable data. If a reply to
the ping is not received, you will see
No Reply Received from IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
, otherwise you will
see
Reply received from IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx : (send count = 5, receive count = n).
Selection Criteria
Ping Protocol
– Select using which type of address type (IPv4/IPv6) to ping
Interface
- Select an IPv6 interface
Ping
– Select ‘Global’ or ‘Link Local’ for IPv6 Ping
Configurable Data
Host Name/IP Address Address Type
- Select the address type for IPv4/IPv6 Address or Host
Name.
Host Name/IP Address
- Enter the IP Address or Host Name of the station you want the switch to
ping. The initial value is blank. The IP Address or Host Name you enter is not retained across a power
cycle. Hostnames are composed of series of labels concatenated with dots. Each label must be
between 1 and 63 characters long, and the entire hostname has a maximum of 255 characters.
Host Name/IPv6 Address
- Enter the IPv6 address or Hostname of the station you want the switch
to ping. The initial value is blank. The IPv6 Address or Hostname you enter is not retained across a
power cycle.
