Physical Installation • 3–21

Power Connector Blade Inspection

3. Align the board with the guide rails and push the board in. When the board stops sliding

freely, push firmly to seat the board, and secure it with the ejector tabs.

4. The switcher will now upgrade the board you have installed if required.

5. Perform a hard restart of the switcher to initialize the new software on the board. Refer

to the section “

Rebooting the Switcher After an Upgrade

” on page 6-15 for more

information on this.

6. Locate the two small holes on the front edge of the board, near the extractor tabs,

marked

SCRN1

and

SCRN2

. If you wish, you can further secure the board by

threading tie wraps through these holes and fastening them around the extractor tabs.

7. Install the frame door as per the section “

Removing or Installing the Frame Door

This completes the procedure for installing printed circuit boards in the front of the frame.

Rear Frame Circuit Boards

The Synergy Q/MD frame comes standard with

and

Video Output Board

,

but is expandable to

Video Input Boards

. If an additional board is purchased, it must be installed in

the proper slot at the back of the frame in order for the switcher to function properly.

Rear Board Locations

The rear of the frame is where input and output BNCs boards are located. The number of boards that
are installed in the frame depends on the number of inputs and outputs you require. Refer to the
following table, and the illustration of the frame, for information on which slot each rear frame board
should be installed in.

Important

If the blades in the power connectors are bent or damaged, contact
Ross Video Technical Support. Do not attempt to install a damaged
board.

Important

If there is significant resistance when seating the board, remove the
board from the frame and inspect the connectors for bent pins or other
damage to the connectors.
