Cabling Your Conversion Loops
As discussed in the section “
Planning Your Conversion Loops
” on page 13–3, a conversion loop is
created by connecting an up/down converter between an Aux-Bus output and an Input. The video to
be converted is routed out the Aux Bus and into the up/down converter. Once converted to the proper
format, the video is routed back into the switcher via the input.
Use the following procedure to cable a converter loop between your Synergy Q/MD switcher and an
up/down converter:
1. Locate the Aux Bus output on the Q/MD frame that corresponds to your Conversion
Loop Worksheet. Refer to the section “
need information on setting output BNCs as Aux Bus outputs.

2. Connect the Aux Bus output (refer to column 5 of your Conversion Loop Worksheet) to
the input of your up/down converter using industry-standard coaxial cable. Use cabling
techniques in accordance with good engineering practice. Consult the documentation for
your particular up/down converter for information on which port to connect to.
3. Locate the input on the Q/MD frame that corresponds to column 6 on your Conversion
Loop Worksheet.
Synergy Q/MD Frame - Rear Input Section
Connect the output of your up/down converter to the input of the Q/MD frame using
industry standard coaxial cable. Use cabling techniques in accordance with good
engineering practice.

available as you perform the Conversion Loop cabling.
