Synergy Q/MD Engineering Manual (v9.1 MD)

SmartConversion™ • 13–11

Use the following procedure to specify the output video format of an up/down converter:

1. Set the output video format on your up/down converter. Refer to the documentation for

your specific up/down converter for details on how to configure video conversion
settings.

2. Navigate to the

SmartConversion Menu

as follows:

•

Press

HOME

MORE

Setup

Installation

B

Aux Bus

B

3. Press

Converter Formats

to display the

Converter Formats Menu

.

Converter Formats Menu

4. Specify an output video format for an up/down converter connected to an Aux Bus as

follows:

•

Use the

Aux Bus

knob

to select an Aux Bus you have connected to an up/down

converter.

•

The

Converter Input Format

knob mirrors the setting you made in the

Aux Bus

Format Menu

. Ensure that it is set to the proper input video format for your

up/down converter.

•

Use the

Converter Output Format

knob to select the video format provided by

the up/down converter connected to the Aux Bus selected above.

The middle section of the menu screen shows a summary of your settings. As you use
the

Bus

knob to scroll through the various Buses, their settings will be displayed in this

area of the menu screen.

The

Converter Input Format

knob mirrors the setting you made in the section

Configuring Aux Bus Output Formats

” on page 13–7.

The

Converter Output Format

knob will override (but not mirror) the setting you

made in the section “

Configuring Inputs

” on page 13–8. If you use this knob, the input

format you set in the

BNC Type Menu

will be ignored.

Important

Ensure that you specify the correct video format for each up/down
converter. Setting the video format to something other than the video
format provided by the up/down converter can have unpredictable
results.

Important

You can select from any of the output formats supported by the
Synergy Q/MD switcher but be sure that you select a video format
compatible with your reference video format. Refer to the section
“

” on page 11–26 for information on video formats and

reference settings.
