Setting Up Panel Buttons
As the last step in the BNC configuration process, you must map video signals to physical buttons on
the control panel.
Synergy Q/MD switchers allow you to map any Input BNC, internal video signal or special function,
such as Shift, to each physical crosspoint button on each bus. Up to 17 different button maps (the
default map and 16 user-configurable maps) can be stored on your switcher and each bus can use a
different map.
In order to assign a function to a crosspoint button, you must first add the function to the button map
you want to use, and then assign the bus map to the crosspoint bus you want to use it on.
Editing a Bus Map
Bus maps define the functions of each crosspoint button on a video bus. Your switcher can store up to
16 different mappings at a time and more can be stored on the switcher hard drive or a USB key for
later recall.
Use the following procedure to edit a Bus Map:
1. Navigate to the

3. Use the
Map
knob to select the map you want to edit (you can select any of the 16
editable mappings).
4. Use the
Button
knob to select the button you wish to assign a function to. You can also
press the crosspoint button on the Program bus that you want to edit. The
Button
knob
will show all possible crosspoint buttons on any Synergy Q/MD control panel. This
allows you to create portable bus maps that can be used on any control panel. If you are
defining a button that does not exist on your control panel, a warning message will
appear, but you will still be able to define the button.
Note
During the procedure, refer to your
Button Map Worksheet
. This
worksheet gives you a convenient place to write down button map
information.
Note
If the Bus Map you are editing does not have a
SHIFT
button defined,
you must use the
Button
knob to access the shifted crosspoint buttons.
