Preliminary Cabling and Video Installation • 4–7
3. Connect a 6-pin shielded Telco cable (of the supplied or custom length) between the
Aux Adapter
installed in the
REMOTE 5
port and the connector labelled
MAIN
on the
rear of the first Remote Aux Panel in the chain.
4. To daisy-chain additional Aux panels (up to
8
), connect a 6-pin shielded Telco cable
between the Remote Aux Panel connector labelled
ECHO
and the connector labelled
MAIN
on the next Remote Aux Panel in the chain.
This completes the procedure for installing the control cables of a Remote Aux Panel to the
Synergy
1
control panel.
Aux Panel Cabling Notes
Please note the following points regarding all remote Aux panels:
•
All Aux outputs are timed.
•
Aux panel configuration (assignment to specific outputs and assignment of “rights”) is
performed using the menu system. Refer to the section “
for instructions.
•
Aux panel crosspoint labels are provided with each panel. Refer to the section
“
” on page 4-25 for labeling instructions.
Reference Signal Connection
An analog Tri-Level Sync or Composite reference signal must be connected to the reference loop
BNCs on one of the Video Input Boards on the switcher.
Video Input Board — Reference Connectors
Connect the reference signal to one of the 2
REF
connectors on the
Video Input Board
in
Slot C
. If
an additional reference is needed, only a Video Input Board without crosspoint (Ross Part Number
4800A-060A) can be used in
Slot D
.
The following points should be considered when connecting a reference signal to your Synergy Q/MD
switcher:
•
Always use a stable signal that is low in jitter, and that preferably originates from a
reliable analog test signal generator.
Monitor Connections
Virtually any Output BNC of the switcher can be assigned as your program or preview output;
however, if you have the Mix/DSK or MultiDSK™ options installed, Output BNCs
B01
through
B06
will be locked to specific output types. These outputs should be used to maximize your outputs. Refer
to the section “
” on page 8-10 or the section “
more information.
Note
If the reference loop is not connected, the loop BNC should be
terminated with a 75ohm termination.
