Activating Conversion Loops
Each Conversion Loop must be activated in order for SmartConversion to use it.
Use the following procedure to activate a Conversion Loop:
1. Navigate to the SmartConversion Menu as follows:

2. Press
Aux To Converters
to display the Aux To Converters Menu .

3. Mark an Aux Bus as being used for SmartConversion as follows:
• Use the Aux Bus knob to select an Aux Bus you have cabled and configured as
being part of a Conversion Loop.
• Use the
Used For Converter
knob to select whether the specified Aux Bus is to
be used for SmartConversion. You can select from the following:
~
Yes
— The specified Aux Bus output is attached to an up/down converter and
is to be used for SmartConversion
~
No
— The specified Aux Bus output is not to be used for SmartConversion.
• Use the
Delay in Fields
knob to specify the delay (in fields) that the up/down
converter adds to the video stream. You can specify a delay of 0-60 fields. See your
up/down converter documentation for the appropriate value.
The middle portion of the menu screen shows a summary of your settings. As you use
the
Aux Bus knob to scroll through the various Aux Buses, their settings will be
displayed in this area of the menu screen.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 for each conversion loop you have cabled and configured.
This completes the procedure to activate a Conversion Loop.
Selecting Output Video Formats of External Converters
The final step in the Conversion Loop definition process is to define the video formats that each
up/down converters provide as output. You must manually set each up/down converter to output the
desired video format and then specify that same output video format to your Synergy Q/MD switcher
