Checking Inputs
At this point in the installation process, ensure that you have performed the following tasks for each
Input BNC to your Synergy Q/MD switcher:
• Named the input.
• Set up the BNC type.
• Set up the tally.
• Set up the alpha parameters (if the input is an alpha signal).
• Set up the Auto Key association (if the input is an alpha signal).
• Set up the control panel crosspoint bus map.
Use the following procedure to check your inputs:
1. Ensure that the program monitor is connected to the Output BNC (on the rear of the
frame) that has been configured as the Program output type. Refer to the section
“ Configuring the Outputs ” on page 8-3 for information on configuring outputs.
2. Ensure that each source device connected to the switcher is putting out a signal. This
includes cameras, VTRs, routers, still stores, etc.
3. Using your “ Input Worksheet ” as a guide, press each crosspoint button on the Program
( PGM) bus (the Background ( BKGD) Bus on the Synergy 1 ), starting with crosspoint
1 . Verify that each signal is present on the crosspoint (as mapped), and that it matches
each connected signal as written on your worksheet.
4. For each shifted crosspoint, press and hold the SHIFT button, then press the desired
button on the PGM bus (the BKGD Bus on the Synergy 1 ).
If any signal does not match, check your “ Input Worksheet ” against the settings that you made on the
Panel Setup Menu .
