Configuring SmartConversion
Once you have cabled your conversion loops and configured your Synergy Q/MD switcher to
recognize them, you still need to configure your switcher with information on the video formats of all
inputs, bus outputs, and SmartConversion options.
The steps to configure your Synergy Q/MD switcher for SmartConversion are:
• Configuring Aux Bus Output Formats
• Configuring Inputs
• Configuring Conversion Options
• Displaying Available Converters
Configuring Aux Bus Output Formats
The Synergy Q/MD switcher needs to be configured with the output video format of each Aux Bus
that is part of a Conversion Loop. This information allows the switcher to correctly route video
sources to the appropriate up/down converters as needed
Setting the Aux Bus Video Format
Use the following procedure to set the video format for each Aux Bus:
1. Navigate to the Output Menu 2-2 as follows:
• Press
HOME B MORE B Setup B Installation B Output B MORE

2. Press
Aux Bus Format
to display the Aux Bus Format Menu .

3. Set the video format for each Aux Bus as follows:
• Use the
Aux Bus
knob to select the Aux Bus you want to set the video format for
(refer to column 4 of your Conversion Loop Worksheet).
• Use the Format knob to select the video format for the Aux Bus (refer to column 2
of your Conversion Loop Worksheet). This is the input video format of the up/down
converter that is connected to this Aux Bus.
This completes the procedure to set the video format for each Aux Bus
Note The video format list shows all formats the switcher is capable of
operating in. Each Aux Bus defaults to the system output video format.
