Synergy Q/MD Engineering Manual (v9.1 MD)

SmartConversion™ • 13–15

MLE 2 Util

 — The specified up/down converter is locked to the Utility 1 

Video + Alpha bus pair on MLE 2.

~

MLE 3 BKGD+PST

 — The specified up/down converter is locked to the 

Back Preset bus pair on MLE 3.

~

MLE 3 KEY 1

 — The specified up/down converter is locked to the Key 1 

Video + Alpha bus pair on MLE 3.

~

MLE 3 KEY 2

 — The specified up/down converter is locked to the Key 2 

Video + Alpha bus pair on MLE 3.

~

MLE 3 Util

 — The specified up/down converter is locked to the Utility 1 

Video + Alpha bus pair on MLE 3.

~

Aux Buses

 — All Aux Buses not assigned to external devices are listed and 

available for locking.

The middle portion of the menu screen shows a summary of your settings. As you use the 

Converter

 

knob to scroll through the various Aux Buses with up/down converters connected to them, their 
settings will be displayed in this area of the menu screen

This completes the procedure to lock an up/down converter to a bus pair.

Displaying Available Converters

You can configure your Synergy Q/MD switcher to display the number of free up/down converters in 
the 

Fade To Black 

Display. The number displayed reflects the total number of available converters 

(without regard to Bus Disabling, Converter Locking, or conversion formats). This is an optional step 
that does not need to be performed but you may find it convenient to have the number of free up/down 
converters displayed on your switcher panel.

Use the following procedure to display the number of free up/down converters in the 

Fade To Black 

Display:

1. Navigate to the 

Personality Menu

 as follows:

2. Use the 

Option

 knob to select 

FTB Display

.

3. Use the 

Value

 knob to select the desired setting for the 

Fade To Black 

Display. You can 

choose between the following:

— The 

Fade To Black 

Display shows the number of available 

up/down converters.

•

FTB 

— The 

Fade To Black 

Display shows the standard fade to black frames 

display.

This completes the procedure to display the number of free up/down converters in the 

Fade To Black 

Display.

Note

It is possible to lock multiple up/down converters to the same bus pair. 
This is useful if you wish to have converters of different format types 
always available to a certain bus pair. You should always lock at least 
two converters to a bus pair to ensure that both buses in the pair have 
access to a converter at the same time.
