Network Setup
This section provides instructions for configuring your network setup for your Synergy Q/MD system
software. Before proceeding, refer to Appendix C, “
IP and Web Issues ”, to familiarize yourself with
some Ethernet security considerations.
Software upgrades are performed from a computer using the LAN 1 Ethernet port on the rear of the
Synergy Q/MD frame. Prior to performing the upgrade, it is necessary to configure the network setup
for the Synergy Q/MD switcher.
Use the following procedure to configure the network setup of your switcher:
1. Ensure that the switcher is connected to your local network.
2. Navigate to the Setup Menu 2-2 as follows:
• Press HOME B MORE B Setup B MORE .
3. Press Network Setup to display the Network Setup Menu .

4. Set the IP Address as follows:
• Use the
Address
knob to select
IP Address
.
• Enter the IP Address using the keypad in the Global Memory System group or
with a PS/2 keyboard attached to your switcher. If you use the keypad, press
ENTER to move between fields as there is no decimal (.) key.
5. Set the Subnet Mask as follows:
• Use the Address knob to select Subnet Mask .
• Enter the Subnet Mask using either the Global Memory System keypad or a PS/2
keyboard attached to your switcher. If you use the keypad, press
ENTER
to move
between fields.
Important
If DIP Switch 1 on the frame CPU board is set to ON , the network IP
address is forced to 192.168.1.1 and the netmask to 255.255.0.0.
Network changes will still take effect but a warning message will be
displayed and if you restart the switcher with DIP Switch 1 still
ON ,
the network address will revert to 192.168.1.1 and the netmask to
255.255.0.0. Refer to the section “
CPU Board ” on page 27-14 for
more information.
Note Do not us an IP address in the range 169.254. X . X to avoid conflicts
with some of the internal boards and cards in the frame. Ross Video
recommends using an IP address in the range of 10.0.
