the top and middle scroll knobs. The Current Name , Mnemonic , and New Name
fields are located below the array.
In the New Name field, the reverse video highlight indicates the “active” character
— the one that you are changing.
• (Synergy 1.5, 2 and 2.5 control panels only) If the mnemonic option is purchased
and installed, the Mnemonic field displays the BNC name as it will appear in the
associated mnemonic display. Refer to the section “ Setting Up Mnemonics
Displays for BNC Names ” on page 7-5 for more information.
• The Label Area provides an array of tools for naming and editing your BNC
names.
• The Scroll Area provides three functions that are controlled by their respective
knobs:

The Horizontal knob moves the highlight horizontally.
~ The Vertical knob moves the highlight vertically.
~ The BNC Number knob selects the input that you want to name. As you scroll
through your inputs, the Current Name field tracks each name.
3. To name a BNC, use the BNC Number knob to select the desired BNC — the one that
you want to name. Please note:
• BNC numbers on the display correspond to physical BNC connectors on the rear of
the chassis, from C01 - D16 .
• As you rotate the knob, the Current Name Field changes to show the BNC name
(as stored in switcher memory).
• The factory default format for all BNC names is:
[ BNC ] [ space ] [ number ] (eg. BNC C01 or BNC D16 )
This format makes it easy to associate names with actual connectors.
4. There are two ways to begin editing the BNC name:
• You can begin by choosing a preset name (a prefix) from a list of typical BNC
names. To start in this manner, continue to the next step.
• You can begin editing the name immediately, by changing the default characters to
your custom characters. To start in this manner, continue with step 6.
Operating
Tip
A Standard PS/2 keyboard can be used to perform the same actions as
pressing or rotating the System Control buttons and knobs.
Refer to the section “
Using the Keyboard in System Control
Menus ” on page 5-5 for details.
Important
Do NOT place anything on your keyboard or place your keyboard in a
position where any of the keys could be accidently pressed. This could
result in the Switcher acting unpredictably.
Note
If you start editing the name, and then decide at some point to choose a
preset name instead, all characters in the custom name will be
replaced by the preset name.
