4–14 • Preliminary Cabling and Video Installation

Synergy Q/MD Engineering Manual (v9.1 MD)

Shutting Down the Switcher

This function shuts down the switcher, placing the CPU Board into a hibernation mode. In this mode it
is safe to turn off all your power supplies and remove the CPU Board.

Use the following procedure to shutdown the switcher:

1. Navigate to the

System Shutdown Menu

as follows:

Press

HOME

B

MORE

B

System Shutdown

.

System Shutdown Menu

2. Press

Shut Down

.

The system will prompt you to confirm the shutdown. Once confirmed, the frame will
shut down.

This completes the procedure for shutting down the switcher.

Powering Off the Switcher

Once your switcher has been shut down, it is safe to turn the power off.

Use the following procedure to power off your switcher:

1. Look for the flashing status indicators on the front of the switcher frame next to the

embossed Ross logo. If the indicators are not flashing between green and amber,

do not

proceed with this procedure. Refer to the section “

Shutting Down the Switcher

page 4-14 for information on shutting down your switcher.

2. Remove the switcher frame door. Refer to the section “

Removing or Installing the

” on page 3-16 for information on removing the frame door.

3. Turn off the

Primary

and (if installed) the

Redundant

power switches.

Important

Do not turn the switcher frame power off until you have completed this
shutdown procedure or you may damage the hard disk.

Caution

Even though the switcher has been shut down, the power supplies are

still active

until they have been physically switched off.

Important

The Frame Door must be re-installed on the frame for proper cooling
when your switcher is running. Leaving the frame door off may cause
the Frame to overheat.
