Changes you make with the
Converter Input Format
knob are reflected in the Aux
Bus Format Menu and vice versa. However, changes you make with the
Converter
Output Format
are used for SmartConversion but are not reflected in the BNC Type
Menu .
This completes the procedure to specify the output video format of an up/down converter.
Configuring Conversion Options
Once all the Conversion Loops have been cabled, configured, and activated, you can configure
SmartConversion options. These options define whether certain switcher buses are prevented from
using Conversion Loops and whether some Conversion Loops are locked to a certain bus. Tailoring
these settings allow you to maximize Conversion Loop resources in your production environment.
Configuring Bus Disabling
Bus Disabling allows you to specify that a particular switcher bus does not need any conversion.
Doing so helps you to alleviate converter resource shortages when switching video sources on a bus
marked as not needing conversion. This is especially useful in keeping up/down converters from
being consumed if someone changes sources on an Aux Bus.
Use the following procedure to configure Bus Disabling:
1. Navigate to the SmartConversion Menu as follows:
• Press HOME B MORE B Setup B Installation B Aux Bus
B SmartConversion .
2. Press Bus Disabling to display the Bus Disabling Menu .

3. Specify whether a particular bus can use SmartConversion as follows:
• Use the Bus knob to select a bus. You can select from the following:
~ None — The specified up/down converter is not locked to a specific bus pair.
~ MLE 1 Program — MLE 1 Program (Background) bus.
~ MLE 1 Preset — MLE 1 Preset bus.
~ MLE 1 KEY 1V — MLE 1 Key bus, Key 1 video.
~ MLE 1 KEY 1A — MLE 1 Key bus, Key 1 alpha.
~ MLE 1 KEY 2V — MLE 1 Key bus, Key 2 video.
~ MLE 1 KEY 2A — MLE 1 Key bus, Key 2 alpha.
~ MLE 1 Util — MLE 1 Utility bus.
~ MLE 2 Program — MLE 2 Program (Background) bus.
